Mustafa Muayad is the Founder and Managing Partner of Muayad & Associates. He brings over 15 years of legal practice focused on corporate and commercial law in Iraq, with a strong emphasis on advising foreign and international companies on their investments and operations within the Iraqi market. His work covers entity formation, investment structuring, drafting of commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.

Mustafa’s practice covers the establishment and structuring of companies from the planning stage through to implementation, alongside the drafting and review of commercial agreements across a wide range of sectors, including commercial companies, oilfield management projects, oil and gas service contracts, commercial agency arrangements, and joint ventures. He also acts as legal counsel and authorised representative for foreign and international companies in commercial litigation and in both domestic and international arbitration, and has represented numerous oil and gas companies, pharmaceutical companies, and real estate companies.

Prior to founding his own firm, Mustafa served as in-house Legal Counsel for Huawei Technologies in Iraq, where he was responsible for legal compliance, contract management, and the resolution of employment disputes across the central and southern regions. From 2015 to 2018, he worked as an Associate in the Corporate and Commercial department of Al Tamimi & Company, advising clients across the banking, energy, telecommunications, and pharmaceutical sectors on operational strategies, regulatory compliance, and contract management in Iraq.

Mustafa has represented both local and international clients in complex disputes before various levels of the Iraqi judiciary, in sectors including oil and gas, banking, pharma, telecommunication, construction, and transportation, acting on behalf of both claimants and respondents. His experience also extends to representing foreign companies in matters relating to the enforcement of foreign judgments and the recognition and enforcement of international arbitral awards in Iraq.
